We are looking for a part-time intern at Purple Kale Kitchenworks and 2 minutes to dinner.com. The requirements of the position are described, below. Hours are somewhat flexible, but include at least 2 days during the week and at least one weekend per month. The position is unpaid, with occasional opportunities for paid project work and with an eye toward a staff position in the future.

The internship requires solid, basic knife skills, a keen focus on detail, an excellent work ethic, the ability to anticipate what needs to get done, and a contagious enthusiasm. We also ask that you have the highest standards of taste, presentation, and care for your own work. You should have broad culinary interests, including some understanding of sustainable food and agriculture. In this position, you will get your hands dirty and cook, while also learning how to teach, develop recipes, and write.

The work includes production in a commercial setting for Purple Kale classes, a line of provisions, and other projects, as well as in a home setting for testing and developing new recipes and ideas. There are opportunities to get involved in writing and editing, as well as video work, and marketing. Any given (non-class) day might include editing recipes, updating the computer database, slicing half a case of onions, styling and photographing food, researching new recipes, running errands, collating papers, and taking out the trash. A class day includes set-up and table service, as well as taking notes and photographs. It is a little like hosting a party and directing a film.

If this sounds like a good fit, please send along your resume and a letter telling me why. If you have applied to a previous posting, feel free to re-submit your application.
